Heanor Town Wolfpack U7's vs. Belper United Eagles U7's
After last weeks close game, the Wolfpack was eager to get back on the pitch at Derby Uni this weekend. With a full squad captained by Ronan, they couldn’t wait to get the game started.
Belper kicked off the game, and the Wolfpack was straight on the attack, not giving them a second on the ball. And with this style of play it didn’t take long for the pocket rocket Teddy Stanley, to break through the Eagles defence and take his first shot on target, which unfortunately was parried by the keeper, causing a chaotic scramble and Ronan getting a nice easy tap in to get the first goal.
The game kicked off again and the Wolfpack were clearly in control, leading to Teddy once again breaking through the defence and taking his chance with an incredible strike, and unlike moments before, the keeper had no chance of saving.
Now, with an early lead, the team was playing with confidence, Harry Taylor (Bobby Carlos ??) adopted more of a right wing position, and showed his ability to confidently drive forward with the ball leading him to provide a fantastic cross into the penalty area for Teddy Stanley to strike and add another goal to his name. The game kicked off quickly and with pressure still applied it wasn’t long till we had our first corner, the ball was whipped in by Ronan to his in partner in crime Super Ted to get his hattrick.
The Eagles did try to keep themselves in the game and had moments of really good football, but with Caleb Robertson playing his strong defensive role as always, making big tackles and clearing up any loose balls in his defensive third of the pitch, allowing the Wolfpack to continue relentlessly and pick up a couple more goals in quick succession.
Substitutions were made, and we had a whole new outfield. Mason playing the opposite side to his usual left wing position, but the Eagles couldn’t cope with his blistering pace and pin point crossing leading to Tommy Haslam getting his name on the scoresheet within minutes of coming on the pitch.
The game kicks off again and Blake is causing havoc with his ball mastery and ability to meg anybody that comes in front of him, with his confidence high he goes on a dazzling run up the left hand side of the field and placing a phenomenal through ball assisting Tijan for his first goal of the afternoon.
The boys continued to apply pressure causing the ball to go out and Mason executing the perfect example of using the new dribble in rule taking on his opposition and putting in a low driven cross to Tijan who finishes with a superb strike into the top corner.
The Eagles were still determined to try get a goal but with our courageous shot stopper, Reuben between the sticks, closing down any potential threats, even a fantastic strike from a free kick couldn’t get through his safe hands. With Reuben’s ability to pick out Tijan from a superb long kick up the pitch, Tijan showed his masterful ball control and drove through Belpers' defence like a steam train and secured his hattrick.
The Half time came and the Wolfpack continued with the attacking play with Tommy moving on to the right wing, with Harry taking the defensive role, Tommy was free to go on the pursuit of bagging more goals. And that’s exactly what he did using his strength and speed to get towards the box and letting off a shot from an extremely tight angle and nutmegging the keeper on the way in. Ronan and Teddy came back onto the field, and the whole team was back on the hunt for even more goals, playing free-flowing football to get several more goals added to the scoresheet.
Mason’s persistent efforts lead him on for too many chances and near misses to count, and any other day could have had a hatful himself. All in all, a very dominant performance by the Wolfpack from the very first second to the last of the game.

Heanor Town Hearts U8's vs. Shelton Hawks U8's
It was a damp and drizzly morning down at the Lees Brook Academy today as the boys went out in the hope of chalking up their first win of the season.
The boys were at it from the off, surging forward and putting the Shelton defence under constant pressure.
As a result, the boys were soon awarded a penalty following a defensive header that did seem a little harsh on the Shelton lads. Up strode the ever unflappable Lucas to smash the ball home off the crossbar and over the line (no Russian linesman required)
The pressure continued from the restart, with Oscar pressing at every opportunity forcing mistakes from the Shelton back line. Kit soon intercepted a rare Shelton break down the right before surging forward and slotting home. This was followed moments later by Louie’s fast footed wizardry down the left to put the ball into the net from what looked like an impossible angle. Kit stabbed home another past an unfortunate keeper before Shelton launched a break down the right that was well dispatched past Hearts goalkeeper Charlie.
At the break, the coaches called for the boys to start playing football, utilising space, movement, and passing.
The boys took this on board into the second half as the boys began to build out from the back. Colossus Fred - as assured as ever - worked the ball out out wide for Harvey and Louie to drive into space and supply ammunition through to Oscar. The pressure told Oscar, showing strength and determination to prod the ball home following some fine work down the right.
The boys were itching for more, with two footed Fred going close as he crashed an excellent free kick off the crossbar with his trusty left boot. Harvey was up next, after going close a number of times he finally struck gold after pick-pocketing a Shelton defender and left converting from the edge of the area.
Credit to the Shelton boys, they kept to their principles, making the last quarter a much tighter affair that saw Charlie pull off some fine saves. There was still time, however, for Louie to work an excellent ball through to Lucas, who finished with aplomb.
All in all an excellent second game for the boys who will take great confidence into their game next week.
MOTM - Fred - The young colossus was the very beat of the Hearts today. Assured at the back and a constant threat down the right. Desperately unlucky not to score, crashing the ball off the post twice.
MOTM - Louie - what a baller. Louie continues to grow in stature with a footballing brain as fast as his feet. Always making the right decisions to put his team on the front!

Heanor Town Thunder U8's vs. Mackworth Dragons U8's
The Thunder continued their rich vein of form in style.
The game was not competitive, and Mackworth were not helped by a lack of availability, leaving them no substitutes to turn to. Mackworth should be proud as they stuck at it and kept trying to the end.
All in all, this was an excellent and dominant Thunder performance. All 7 outfield players got on the scoresheet. All 7 also got an assist.
The Thunder passed the ball through the lines in style, only pulling the trigger in good goalscoring positions. The boys defended diligently when called upon.
This was a brutal Thunder performance, and they didn't let up for a second. The coaching team and parents are extremely proud of the lot of them.
Both coaches agreed to halt the game 5 minutes from the end due to the lack of competition and weather.
Oliver Booker, Oliver Burnell, Spencer Neville, Harvey Wright, Shay Bestwick, Frankie Davis, and Louie Stephenson all contributed with goals/assists.
Managers MOTM - Spencer Neville.
Parents MOTM - Shay Bestwick.

Heanor Town Titans U9's vs. Wollaton Hall and Bramcote U9's
The Titans carried on from a very good team performance last week. The whole team is developing week on week and is starting to click after a summer of changes to the squad.
Jude R, Riley, and Freddie were rocks in defence in the first half with Jude carrying on from his MOM performance last week. The trio never missed a ball, talked to each other and the whole team. With Riley getting joint MOM today with his impressive first half performance against a very strong winger, he never backed down from.
Only Freddie’s second game for the Titans, and he’s growing in confidence week from week. It's great to see him being strong and calm on the ball.
GK Oscar carried on from his very confident performance last week, making good decisions and commanding his box.
Big Charlie and Jacob marshalled the centre midfield between them throughout the game, breaking up play and always looking to play forward. They never gave the opposition a second on the ball.
Wingers today were Podge, Seth, and Cooper. All were a constant threat from the first moment to the final whistle. Drive and determination from them all during the whole match were great to see. Goals from wingers Podge and Seth added to the performance for them both.
Cooper claimed the joint MOM with Riley for his second half performance on the right wing. He was relentless and never stopped trying to create for his teammates.
Forwards Oskar and little Charlie were a constant threat and got their rewards with a great long range effort from Oskar and a hattrick for little Charlie, both adding to the season tally from last weeks goals.
Shout out to Charlie Marriott, who has been named as captain for the Titans for the season. #titans

Keyworth Utd Green U10’s vs Heanor Town Harriers U10’s
Following a hectic run of fixtures, the Harriers made the long journey to face a strong Keyworth team.
Harriers lined up with GK Leo Edge, a back two of Alex & Stanley Taylor, across midfield was Kaiden Charlton, Louie West, and Ashton Vallis, with Alin Dragu leading the line upfront. Harry Haslam, Charnley Bolton, and Riley Thacker made up a very strong bench.
On a slick surface from all the rain, the game was underway.
Keyworth came out the traps quicker and showed their qualities early on, camping the Harriers into their own half for the early exchanges. The Harriers struggled to settle into the game and looked slightly disjointed.
Unable to get a foothold in the game, Keyworth punished the Harriers with a good strike at goal, finding its way into the back of the net.
Finally, the Harriers grew into the game and replied with a great goal. Charnley Bolton played a great pass down the flank to Alin Dragu, who showed great composure, crossing the ball in for Kaiden Charlton to finish first time.
The Harriers were now imposing their usual tempo into the game with some great driving runs from midfielders Louie West and Ashton Vallis.
Half time was full of encouragement from the coaches, challenging the Harriers to up their levels in the second half.
The second half began with the Harriers looking back to their best. Harry Haslam had now grown into the game and was pulling the strings from midfield.
The Harriers were now using the slick surface to their advantage and put together some great moves.
As the Harriers pressed looking for a winner, Keyworth put together some good attacks of their own, forging a great chance for their striker to be clean through on goal. Up stepped Leo Edge to pull off a brilliant save. Further Keyworth attacks were expertly defended by Alex Taylor and Riley Thacker, who both showed commanding defending, backed up by Stanley Taylor, who put in tackle after tackle to disrupt the opponents.
The Harriers were once again on the front foot with some great link up play from Kaiden Charlton and Charnley Bolton. Ashton Vallis and Louie West continued to cause problems with their pressing. As the game drew to a close, a ball into striker Alin Dragu forced a Keyworth player to miss time a tackle and give a penalty away. Showing great courage, up stepped Ashton Vallis to smash home from the spot and win the game for the Harriers.
After starting slowly, this was a quality performance from the Harriers. Digging deep early on, showing real heart and desire that allowed them to grow into the game and then control the tempo. Fantastic performance from all
the players against a dangerous team.
MOM - Stanley Taylor. The destroyer was back to his best, breaking up the opponents' play with some brilliant tackles, backed up by some great positional play. Well done, Stan!
The Harriers are proudly sponsored by main shirt sponsor TC Harrison JCB and sleeve sponsor Laura Taylor. Thank you for your continued support.

Stanton Ilkeston Scorpions U10's vs. Heanor Town Hurricanes U10's
(Thursday 19th September 2024 - 18:30 KO)
The Hurricanes travelled to Ilkeston to play a YEL evening match last week and put in an excellent display. Due to other commitments and holidays, it meant Heanor were down to just 8 players, which gave them all a good workout after a long day at school.
Starting line up comprised of Max Appleby in goal, Finley Shaw and Joey Mason at the back, with Jobie Edmonds-Jackson in the middle, Will Johnson on the right, Tom James on the left and Leighton Carter starting up top, with Ellis Bestwick starting on the sidelines.
From the off, the Hurricanes were simply sensational, with every player being an integral part in orchestrating some great passing football, creating lots of chances.
Various rolling subs were made to keep the lads fresh, and it wasn’t long before Leighton scored from an excellent ball in from Will for his first league goal for the Hurricanes.
Shortly after, Ellis made it two, with a nice turn and finish into the bottom corner.
There were many more chances in the remainder of the half, it’s difficult to remember who created what, but recognition has to go to the Stanton keeper, who pulled off superb save after superb save to keep the game within reach for Stanton at half time.
The second half commenced, and again from the off the Hurricanes played some nice stuff, and a few minutes in saw Tom send the ball goalwards, watching it find the back of the net, for his first goal for the club.
It wasn’t long before Stanton caught the Hurricanes (who had possibly started to think the game was sealed) cold and finished a well worked chance to bring them right back in it. Shortly afterwards, another chance was presented to Stanton, but Leighton, now in goal, pulled off a cracking save to guide the ball wide.
A quick change in positions to firm things up, with Max and Finley back in defence, the Hurricanes got back on track and continued to play, and this saw Will grab a brace of well finished goals to put the game out of reach for Stanton.
Just before the final whistle, Heanor got a freekick out wide, and to top a superb performance off, the crowd were treated to what can only be described as an absolute peach of a goal, as Ellis guided a beautiful freekick into the 6 yard box, Jobie connected with it perfectly to guide it into the back of the net on the volley at lightning speed, if only somebody had been filming, it would have been perfect for match of the day.
The performance all around for every player was excellent, loads of running and most importantly loads of teamwork and passing once again, and there really was some entertaining football played – well done lads.
Parents Player – Finley Shaw, was rock solid at the back once again, blocking out many moves from the opposition and playing some really nice balls up the pitch. Well done, Finley.
Coaches Player – Tom James, loads of running throughout, making a number of great passes, and got his first goal for Heanor, Well done, Tom.

Heanor Town Hurricanes U10's vs. Burton Joyce Blue U10's
The Hurricanes were back at Lockton Avenue on Sunday after two excellent games away from home, welcoming Burton Joyce to the field of dreams.
It was testing conditions after endless overnight rain, but the pitch had held up well, ready for another spectacle of grassroots football.
Starting line up for Heanor was Elijah Graham in goal, Finley Shaw and Joey Mason at the back, Ellis Bestwick, Jobie Edmonds-Jackson and Ronan Charles in midfield and Leighton Carter up top, with Max Appleby and Will Johnson on the side, and Charlie Colson and Tom James both out of action.
The first ten minutes were very tight but with Burton Joyce putting Heanor under most pressure, the deadlock was broken as a loss in possession was punished with a speculative long range effort from the away team sailing into the top corner to put them one up.
It wasn’t long before it was two. After a slight mishap from a corner saw Burton Joyce force the ball over the line once again.
At this point, it felt harsh to be two down for the home team, as the intent to play some nice football was there, but it just wasn’t quite clicking for the Hurricanes.
This soon changed as a super move from Heanor saw Jobie, who again was tireless in midfield, pass to Leighton up top who held the ball up before guiding into the path of Ellis, who with a touch to control showed excellent technique to send the ball flying past the Burton Joyce keeper from some distance out for what can only be described as a sensational finish, to pull one back for Heanor.
The end of the half was now in the favor of the home side, with a few nice balls in from both Max and Ellis outside, but Heanor were unable to convert to draw level before half time.
The second half saw Leighton and Elijah swap over, with Will and Max introduced halfway through the first half.
Again, the game was closely fought, and Heanor kept up their ascendancy from the first half. Elijah went on a steady run on the left wing before being fouled to earn a free kick. Shortly afterwards, Elijah dispatched this confidently with a rocket into the top corner to draw the game level.
Heanor up to now had been pretty solid at the back, with a few pairing combinations between Finley, Ronan, Max, and Joey. Unfortunately, however, as Burton Joyce continued to look for a route through, Heanor failed to take their chance to clear and were punished with a good finish from the away team.
The Heanor heads seem to drop for a short while after this, and Burton Joyce added a fourth. But it still felt like Heanor could get something from the game and continued to chase.
Will who had been tireless all morning on both wings, was soon rewarded with an assist after squaring a great ball into the box which made its way into the goal via the away team defender, to make it a tight finish.
As Heanor pushed for the equaliser, unfortunately, the opposition winger broke loose and cut inside to slot home and seal the spoils for his side.
A overall great effort from Heanor in cold wet conditions, could have gone either way today but on this occasion it wasn’t to be, we go again next week to continue what has been a brilliant start to life in the YEL.
Parents Player - Elijah Graham, made some great saves in goal before coming outfield looking dangerous and scored a great free kick. Well done, Elijah.
Coaches Player - Ronan Charles, had a great game for Heanor at the back and kept going to the end. Well done, Ronan.

Heanor Town Phoenix U10's vs. Newton and Blackwell Storm U10's
(Wednesday 18th September 2024 - 18:30 KO)
The first of a double header this week!
The Phoenix went into the match, still without a win this season. It was time to put this right!
The starting line up was strong, with Leo edge in goal, Riley Thacker and Stan Taylor at the back, Chaz Bolton on the left, Hazza Haslam in the cm and Kaiden Charlton on the right, upfront Alin Dragu! Leaving a strong bench of Alex Taylor, Fin Kerry, Raiden Fern, and Frankie Michael. Full squad for the first time this season.
After seeing the team sheets, we knew that the storm would be weaker than previous games, with a few players leaving.
That was the challenge to The Phoenix to take the game to them, which they duly obliged!
From the off, we attacked with a frenzy, which caught the opposition on the back foot, Kaiden Charlton grabbing the first goal early doors. It was soon followed up by Chaz Bolton scoring direct from a corner, which we have seen a few times before.
With the The Storm looking shell shocked and the defence of Stan Taylor and Riley Thacker not giving them an inch and pinning them in their own half. Alin Dragu stepped up with 2 deadly strikes from inside the box, which he lashed by the keeper, ably assisted by Haz Haslam and Kaiden Charlton.
Alin Dragu soon went close to his hat trick only to be denied by a great save from the keeper. Unfortunately for him, it fell to Chaz Bolton just outside the box who slammed the ball home.
This brought about a raft of changes as the bench entered the fray.
They soon got in on the act with Frank Michael releasing Finners Kerry, who managed to bundle the ball home. The Phoenix well on top and enjoying their passing approach. Half time.
The 2nd half began with Alex Taylor bossing the back line, with Raiden fern in front of him, playing the ball out from the back.
It wasn’t long before Kaiden Charlton bagged his 2nd of the game with a great long-range free kick. Soon after, Finners Kerry grabbed his 2nd of the game, converting a great through ball from Stan Taylor.
Despite the onslaught, The Storm kept going and tested Leo edge a couple of times, who made the saves look routine.
Chaz Bolton soon nailed his hattrick, which had all come from outside the box with a shot that had too much power for the keeper. He quickly followed up with a tap in from a great ball from Haz Haslam.
At this point, I realised how lucky I am, as Leo Edge went up front to be replaced by fin Kerry ( literally the best 2 keepers in the league, what a god send )
The challenge was on for Leo to notch his first competitive goal!
Frankie Michael soon sent a ball in which fell to Raiden Fern, who selfishly shot rather than laying up his stepbrother! ( You could almost hear the boos! ) luckily for Raiden, it rebounded off the post straight to Leo Edge to finish!! The scenes were incredible! Well done, Leo!
Shortly after, Raiden finished the scoring with a goal of his own!
Big credit must go to The Storm who at no minute let their heads drop and ran themselves into the ground, despite playing higher level opposition.
Big thank you to our main sponsor furniture cloud

It was a great performance from the Phoenix as a whole, but when a midfielder steps up and slams in 4 goals it was fairly easy, the factor as well wasn’t the goals, it was also his work rate, which he has massively upped this season! Well done, Chaz Bolton.

Priory Celtic U10's vs. Heanor Town Phoenix U10's
The second game of a double header this week, The Phoenix headed to old acquaintances, who we have the utmost respect for!
The starting lineup was swapped about to keep everyone fit and sharp.
Leo edge in goal, fresh from his goal scoring exploits, Raiden Fern and Riley Thacker starting at the back, Alex Taylor cm, Frank Michael on the right and Fin Kerry on the left, Alin Dragu upfront. With Bolton, Taylor, Haslam, and Charlton all chomping at the bit to get on.
The game started with The Phoenix in the ascendancy with Alin Dragu testing the keeper and Alex Taylor enjoying his more advanced role bundling the ball home.
The lead didn’t last long as the home side soon equalised despite a great save from Leo Edge.
The defence of Raiden Fern and Riley Thacker at this point were being tested, but both showed themselves really strong in the tackle to keep the opposition at bay.
It was a fairly evenly contested first half, with the midfield matching the opposition. With Frank and Finners working hard on the wings and Alex Taylor snapping into tackles in the middle, whilst Alin Dragu ran the channel excellently.
The next goal of the game went to Celtic in disputed circumstances! Alex Taylor believed the ball had gone out of play (it looked it from here), but the opposition took advantage and cross before a neat finish at the near post beating Leo edge.
We took a moment to regain composure but soon forced a corner, which Hazza Haslam soon whipped a trademark corner in, which came off a defender into the goal. Level at half time.
The Phoenix flew out the blocks after the restart with Riley Thacker and Stan Taylor proving to be nuisances in midfield and defence, not allowing Celtic out of their own half.
With Raiden fern looking good on the ball and Frankie Michael showing his confidence spraying passes about it seemed only a matter of time before we took the lead.
Finners Kerry, who had entered the fray at half time, had dragged his teams intensity up through his strong running and pressing. He was onto be rewarded, with Frankie playing him through, Fin turned the defender inside out, before hitting a worldie from 25 yards into the far corner.
Kaiden Charlton shortly after played a short pass to Chaz Bolton to rifle in from just outside the box to continue his recent goal scoring form.
Overall a bit of a subdued performance from Heanor, but a wins a win and good sides find a way to win whilst not at their best.
Big thank you to our main sponsor furniture cloud
Our sleeve sponsor Amanda and Alina
Also, our ball sponsor and mom sponsor, Lilly Jones at the crown inn.
Captain Frank Michael who showed great bride wearing the armband and showed amazing confidence on the ball.
Man of the match went to Finley Kerry, who perhaps deserved it alone for the amazing goal, but also for lifting his teammates with his great pressing and determination.

Heanor Town Sapphires U10's vs. Swadlincote All Stars U10's
The Sapphire girls had a new kind of challenge this week, in more ways than one. After recording their first win last week, in only their second ever match, the challenge to not ride that result and be overconfident was always going to be a test. On top of that, we had the early 8:45am kick off test, too. One for the parents as much as the players. But everyone turned up, which was a big positive.
The Sapphires were up against the Swadlincote All Stars, a team in their second season together, with a full squad ready to face the eager Sapphires.
Part of our goalkeeper rotation plan, the Sapphires top goal scorer, Mollie Hanson, started in goal. Lily Peacey and Macey Akers started in defence. Today's Captain, Lilly Tipton started in midfield alongside Mia Peacey. Mila Hallam and Lottie Moore started in an attacking role. Both Iris Haywood and Maddie Middleton waited patiently to be introduced. Sofia Morgan was absent for today's match but cheered the Sapphires on from her family holiday.
The match started with a fired-up frenzy. All the Sapphires were pressing and pinning the All Stars back into their own half. Some industrious midfield play by both Mia and Lilly kept the ball rolling forward, with Lily and Macey both in fine form, ready for anything that managed to get through to them. Mila and Lottie both put the oppositions defence under pressure, pinning them back.
As the game started to settle, the All Stars found their footing and started to peg the Sapphires back into their own half. Our keeper, Mollie, not once, but twice denied the All Stars' striker with great saves.
Changes were made with Iris coming on to fit into the left defender role, allowing Lily to push up into midfield. Maddie came on into attack to add a different dynamic to the match.
With the play evening out between the two teams, the All Stars made substitutions of their own, freshening their whole team in a mass switch. One of the new All Stars took the ball for herself, showing off some excellent skills that caught the eye of everyone. It was clear to see the impact she'd have going forward.
Another save by Mollie had the supporters cheering, pushing the ball out wide away from her goal. Another All Stars attack saw their key player strike, but thanks to a combination block by Macey and Iris, Mollie quickly gathered the ball into her grasp. She launched the ball forward, only for it to fall to a very fortunate first-time boot/shot from the All Star striker, which caught everyone off guard to put them ahead.
Moments later, Mollie pulled off another fantastic save, getting low to block a powerful shot. The Sapphires pushed to get back into the match with Maddie coming ever so close to the equaliser, but it just wasn't to be. The fresher legs of the All Stars managed to dampen the Sapphires attack leading up to the half time whistle.
A halfway change saw Iris put on the goalkeeper gloves, allowing Mollie the chance to play up front.
Maddie and Macey were now playing in defence with the aim to get back to basics and clear the ball up the other end of the pitch. Both did this extremely well considering the pressure they were under from the All Stars. Lily was her usual self, darting all over the place to get the ball back for her team. Lottie was getting more involved, winning her challenges and played a lovely ball into the path of Mollie, only fir the All Stars' defence to quash the attack.
Mila was starting to find her place in the match, bouncing around and making a nuisance of herself. Whether it was attacking of defending, the All Stars seemingly didn't know how to deal with her. A run up the right-hand side finally found Mollie who came agonisingly close to getting the Sapphires back level.
Iris pulled off a string of saves in front of the supporters, really showing her determination for the team. The attacks were getting more frequent, though, especially from two key All Stars players who were running the show as they say. After a great initial defensive scramble and save, the ball found its way in to double the All Stars lead.
After another mass change up from the All Stars, the Sapphires had to make a shuffle of their own. Mila dropped into defence alongside Maddie, with Macey moving forward into midfield.
Macey's power is something to admire. Not only her strength, but her pace is electric. With a free midfield role for her now, she made a sprinting dribble past the defender, holding off the challenge before her shot went agonisingly wide.
The All Stars set up was very focused, with three defenders mopping up our attacks, then a combination of a midfielder and the two superstar players dictating the play. They all knew their roles, as well as getting the luck of the bounce what seemed like every time. Very frustrating for our Sapphires.
Mila was all over the place, but in a fantastic way. Pushing forward with her team whilst also tracking back and giving the All Stars striker no ease to shoot. She managed to burst forward past two players before the ball fell to Mollie, who's shot hit the post before going out. Agonisingly close once again.
A final switch was made to try and freshen it up, but on this day, we just couldn't break them down. Another attack saw a very fortunate goal for the All Stars to wrap the score line up which was once again the result of the very good All Stars pair.
The final whistle blew with the Sapphires just coming short. Regardless, all the players still had smiles in their faces, despite being very tired from their efforts. These matches are the ones we learn from, and I'm sure the Sapphires will be back fighting.
Supporters Player of the Match - Macey Akers. Macey had her own test today as she had to play the whole match for her team. After battling it out in defence, she continued to make her mark on the game with some incredible runs, powerfully beating her opponents. On a luckier day for the team, a goal wouldn't have been a surprise. Well done, Macey.
Coaches Player of the Match - Mila Hallam. Small in stature, huge in character. Mila's place in the Sapphires game plan is still a bit of a mystery. One minute she looks a natural winger. The next she's an excellent defender. Wherever we play her, she's starting to make a real impact, no more so than today. An excellent performance. Well done, Mila.

Duffield Dynamo Raptors U11's vs. Heanor Town Comets U11's
With an event at the Cricket Club forcing the league to switch our games to the 4G pitches, we thought this would be the biggest drama leading into the fixture. That was before Saturday evenings thunderstorm which continued the wet weather into our Sunday match.
The Comets have always had a questionable relationship with artificial pitches, with it being well known that our results are much better on the open grass fields. With this and the weather, the odds were beginning to look stacked against us before a ball was touched.
In goal as ever, Isaac Swindell started between the sticks. A back three of EM, HHC, and Kian Tipton. Harry Peacey and Theo Henshaw started in midfield with Owen Carter on the right-hand side, and Jacob Torr on the left. Jack Hobster led our attack. On the sidelines waiting to make an impact were Blaine Walker, Casey Morton, George Martin, and the returning John Rutherford. John's been out since breaking his foot over the summer. It's great to see him back with the Comets!
The match started in typical Comets fashion. Very fast paced, with Jack leading the press from the front. Both Harry and Theo were taking control of the midfield, finding through balls to wingers Jacob and Owen. The press was working, with both Jack and Jacob taking aim only to see their shots go wide of the target.
EM was filling in the left defender role fantastically, cutting out the Raptors' forward play and making darting runs forward of his own. Similarly on the right of defence, Kian was clearing his lines as well as taking control of the long throw-ins down his flank. HHC stayed solid in the heart of defence, clearing his lines and marshalling his teammates to keep the offside trap active. Isaac had a few shots to deal with himself, commanding his area with confidence.
Owen was testing the Raptors defence with his trickery and pace. One moment impressed the most when he knocked it past the defender before launching a teasing cross into the box which was impressively taken away from the impending volley of Jacob by a super bit of Raptors defending.
Changes saw Casey replace Harry in midfield, George on in place of Jacob, and the returning John coming on up front in place of Jack. Jack was very unfortunate not to get himself a goal after his efforts. It was just looking one of those days.
The Raptors keeper was in fine form yet again. After denying Jack, Jacob, Harry, and Theo of early goals, he kept up his form now denying John by being very quick off his line to collect. It was from this bit of goalkeeping that caught the Comets sleeping. The Comets midfield had pushed too far forward and found themselves out of position. The long ball fell kindly into the run of a Raptors midfielder who slid a pass in between the charging Comets defenders for the attacker to poke the ball past Isaac into the back of the net. Ever so frustrating. Lots of encouragement was needed for the boys to keep their heads up and focus.
A play of football saw EM launch a ball forward on the volley. The kick had some power to it, and it would take something special to control. Up steps Theo who plucked the ball out the sky with his right foot, turned his body and set off past the defender in a move fit for Sky Sports. Unfortunately for us, the defender managed to get back just in time to put the cross out for a throw.
The half time played out, with heads down in the cold wet weather. With just one goal in it, we were far from out of this match. We'd had the most chances so far with just no luck.
The second half saw both Kian and EM have a rest with Harry and Blaine coming on into defence. Jacob came on for Owen and Jack back on for John. The Comets were trying a new approach with two banks of three, with two up front in George and Jack.
After an early test for Isaac, the Comets started to force the ball down the middle, with both George and Jack now instructed to loop their runs from central to wide positions. This worked great when a through ball from Jacob fell in the path of George. The Raptors keeper quickly slid out to claim the ball, or so it initially seemed to George who started his run back into position not noticing the keeper had fumbled the ball. Another note for everyone to keep their concentration. George quickly shook it off, though, and pushed himself to get past the defence down the left wing. His ball in was inches away from Jack's boot before the flying keeper pounced on the ball.
Just as the Comets looked to be taking control of the match, a quick counterattack caught the Comets off guard and the Raptors doubled their lead. Such a knockout blow for the team after their efforts to push forward.
The game now opened up. The Raptors seemed to have a bit more freedom in their play now, and started making testing runs of their own. Back and forth, the action was starting to get a little sloppy with no player taking real control of the ball.
A few more changes were made to revert to width. Owen came in to continue his impressive right-wing display, dinking in and out of the defence before passing the ball across goal. John had the ball at his feet, yet the luck of the bounce wouldn't fall kind to him, so by the time he'd got control, the Raptors defender was there to block. Another attempt by Jack, who was now in midfield, was blocked by their keeper and out for a last-minute corner. Despite a lovely, floated ball in, the ball was cleared to the sound of the referees whistle.
Defeat for the Comets on this wet Sunday morning. We can use all the excuses at hand. Wet weather, 4G, slippery surface. Deep down, none of them were the real factor. Extra yards weren't exhausted by the players at times of need, all over the pitch. No blame. It just wasn't to be our day. But these boys will be back fighting!
Supporters Player of the Match - Jack Hobster. Jack's a special player in the sense we can play him anywhere. His key contribution isn't just scoring goals, and he showed that today with plenty of work around the pitch. Keep it up, Jack. Well done.
Managers Player of the Match - HHC. H's role in our team is very clear to everyone. He's our enforcer and the back, holding our defensive wall together with his power and determination. He didn't get this award for his work on the ball today, instead, for his work off it. He communicated fantastically in spells with his defensive teammates which is fantastic to see. Well done, H.

Heanor Town Hawks U11's vs. Melbourne Dynamo Comets U11's
The Hawks leave it late!
The Heanor Town Hawks were up against Melbourne Dynamos and feeling confident after a good win last weekend. The team was back on 3G pitches.
Melbourne started well and put Heanor under pressure from the first whistle, and just like last week the Hawks were struggling to keep the ball and put a pass together which allowed Dynamos to take a well deserved but questionable lead.
Again, just like last week, this seemed to spur the Hawks on and rather than let their heads drop they were now starting to play some nice football and it wasn’t long before Charlie Mills got the team back level.
Sub Riley Cutts slotted straight into the middle and put the Hawks in control with a cultured finished from the edge of the box, and the Hawks took a well-deserved lead in at the half time whistle
The rain was lashing down now, but the game was so finally balanced. I don’t think anyone even noticed.
The Hawks started the second half strong and not to be outshined by his brother, John Mills hit the hawks' third and put the team in full control
Melbourne had other ideas, though, and dragged themselves back into the game, first with a goal that no one thought had crossed the line, and then with a cruel penalty that looked like a blatant foul against the Heanor defender. As hard as this was to take, there was nothing the Hawks could do about it, until some quick thinking from a throw in saw Riley Cutts rifle a shot into the top corner of the Dynamos goal and give the Hawks a dramatic victory.
We came off the pitch looking like giants last week and managed to walk away today feeling like we got what we deserved. I honestly think we would have lost this game last season, but this team seems to have a real togetherness and team spirit, as well as having some real leadership. We’ve got some real ability, too.
I'm really proud of the team again today and onwards and upwards as ever. COYH!
After joining us this summer, todays MOTM, Riley Cutts, has been a revelation. He’s hard as nails and has an infectious attitude. He had a day to remember scoring a screamer to score the winner with the last kick of the game. Well done, lad, and keep up the good work.

Heanor Town Panthers U11's vs. Beeston FC U11's
The Panthers kicked off the YEL season this weekend against Beeston FC, winners of division 6 last season.
Haiden started between the posts with Harry P, Billy, and Maison in defence, Harry H, Charlie, Harrison and Arlo in midfield, and Harry B up front. On the bench were George, Ellis, and Alan.
From the kick off, the Panthers didn't look at their usual selves. Beeston was by far the sharper team and was winning all the battles across the pitch.
It didn't take long for the first goal to come. The Panthers were all over the place, no one sticking to positions or closing the opposition down. A cross came in and found a Beeston player completely unmarked in the area, and with only Haiden to beat, he buried it.
The rest of the half was pretty much the same. The Panther's were second best to everything, and when they did get the ball, it was all very rushed and panicking, meaning no real threats were created.
Half time came, and the boys were told that they had to do better and look like they wanted to play.
Unfortunately, the second half started, and a penalty was awarded to Beeston for handball in the area. Although Haiden dived the correct way, the penalty was placed perfectly in the side of the goal.
This seemed to give the Panthers a little bit of wake-up call.
Maison, captain for the day, was fed a beautiful ball by Harry H through the middle of the pitch. He ran on and shot from just inside the area to score off the post.
Panthers really were in attack mode now, but unfortunately, may have forgotten about defending! On a counterattack, Beeston got another goal.
In a similar fashion, they then got another goal on a counter attack, this time with a cracking finish off the underside of the bar.
In fairness to the Panthers, they hadn't given up. Even with realistically no time to get anything from the match, they still kept going to the end.
Harrison scored a lovely consolation goal, a very neat finish with his right foot.
Matches like this give us coaches some real ideas of where we need to improve and what we need to work on. Plus, we even take some positives from it as well.
Today's player of the match, sponsored by Benefit Martial Arts and Fitness, for solid effort throughout the whole match was Harry H!

Heanor Town Oaks U14's vs. Sneinton Town U14's
The Oaks were back in action this week, hosting Sneinton Town. The Oaks were missing 3 players with Ethan Fletcher, Logan Tipton, and Joshua Benson, all unavailable for today's fixture.
The Oaks starting 11 had Finley Brooks in goal, Alfie Atkins, Joe Bekteshi, Theo Haslam and Arlie Lancaster in the back line, Freddy Gadsby, Sonny Mustoe, Hayden Brennan in midfield, Ethan Jones and Captain Alfie Sherwood on the wings with Riley Boxall leading the strike force. With Alfie Carpenter and Drew Olphert ready to make an impact.
The game got on the way and began quite scrappy. Both teams were not able to hold the ball or settle in the game. A bit of brilliance from the Oaks saw Sherwood in space using his pace and driving the ball across the front of the Sneinton goal. Ethan Jones sliding forward to slot the ball into the oppositions goal to give the home side the lead.
This seemed to wake Sneinton up, who started the play some good football and asking questions of the Oaks defence. The Oaks defence stood strong and disciplined. The Oaks were still a bit scrappy, just hoofing the ball clear with no real purpose.
The Oaks changed things up halfway through the half, trying to settle things down.
Slowly, the Oaks started to press the away side and try to box them in their own half. A pinpoint cross from Carpenter found Sherwood in the box who volleyed the ball with his weeker foot straight in the top corner to give the away keeper no chance and double the Oaks lead.
The second half began, and the away team caught the Oaks sleeping with a goal in the first minute after the break. This stunned the Oaks as they had been defensively solid in the first half.
Sneinton seemed to come out of the front foot and pressed high, this just gave acres of space behind their back line. A superb through ball from Lancaster saw Sherwood our muscle and outpace the centre backs to place the ball into the back of the net, restoring their 2 goal lead.
Sneinton never stopped and pushed the Oaks back again, dragging the Oaks into a scappy game and again the Oaks reverting hoofing the ball forward.
The defence and keeper were. Being put under a lot of pressure. Eventually, Sneinton broke through again as the pressure caused a mistake, and they reduced the deficit to within a goal.
Sneinton pushed hard and threw everything at the Oaks, trying to get that equaliser. Full credit to the Oaks backline as they kept disciplined and made lots of tackles and interceptions to keep the away team at bay. The Oaks shot stopper also contributing superbly to keep the home side ahead.
With minutes to go, Sherwood received the ball in acres of space. He drove forward, taking on the Sneinton left back. He drilled the ball past the keeper, this time hitting the post. Olphert followed the ball in and managed to finish the attack off and increase the Oaks lead back to two.
A hard earned win for the Oaks. It was a scrappy game, but the team worked hard to get 3 deserved points despite not being at our best today.
The parents' player went to Theo Haslam, who made plenty of crucial tackles, worked hard, and played some good clearances down the line. Well done, Theo, keep it going.
The Managers player went to Hayden Brennan, who never stopped all the game. Worked hard, put in plenty of tackles, and showed fantastic passing and vision. A super display. Well done, Hayden, keep it going.
Great work, Oaks, let's push forward and build on this.
A huge thank you to Sherwood Plumbing & Mechanical Services LTD, who for a second season has sponsored the team and supplied the team with kits and training tops. Thank you.

Toton Tornados U15's vs. Heanor Town Jaguars U15's
Toton got us under way, and the Jaguars were pressing from the off and playing some really nice football again.
The Jaguars really started to pile the pressure on but just couldn’t find that final ball. Then the lads started dropping like flies with knocks and injuries, so fingers crossed they all are fighting fit again soon.
The lads got on with playing the football in triangle patterns up the pitch. The lads got their reward when Connor poked the ball home to put the Jaguars ahead, with an assist from Jake.
The Jaguars kept pushing for that second goal and went close a few times. It just seemed like the ball wouldn’t go in the back of the net. But then the hard work paid off, and Fin doubled the Jaguars lead with an assist from big Jack. The Jaguars pushed on, and big Jack got a goal of his own with an assist from Fin. The Jaguars carried on playing their football up to half time.
The second half kicked off, and the Jaguars went straight on the attack just like they had finished the first half. We kept pushing for that next goal but just never found it. The game started to get a bit scrappy in the middle of the park, but if anything broke through, Michael came out of his 18-yard box and mopped everything up. The game ended with a win for the Jaguars.
Brilliant effort and an amazing attitude by both teams.
Goal scorers - Connor, Fin, and Jack Ironmonger

Heanor Town Tornados U15's vs. Beeston FC U15's
The Tornados welcomed Beeston to Aldercar missing Beth, Freya, Mya-Grace, and Julia all through illness. Here's hoping for speedy recoveries for all of them.
Due to this, Layla went in between the sticks with Evie, Grace, Captain Sienna, and Ella in the defence. Lilli, Flick, Elycia, and Eva made up the midfield with Val and Emse up top. Nelly was ready to be introduced from the bench.
The Tornados were fast out of the blocks, and when Elycias shot was parried by the keeper, Esme was there to hit it home. She then went close again whilst Flick went close with a free kick, and it was all Tornados play. Then Beeston scored when a corner wasn't cleared and got another when the striker got to the ball just before Layla, and suddenly, the Tornados were behind.
Nelly was introduced and began linking up well with Elycia and Esme whilst Eva and Lilli were magnificent all game on the wings. Nelly then took on several Beeston defenders, found herself one on one and finished with a lovely low strike to level the scores. Val came on for Esme and then whilst running down the wing put a ball in with a cross come shot which looped over the stranded keeper and as the half came to a close the Tornados had really impressed all over the pitch.
Layla stayed in goal for the second half, marshalled by the excellent defence with Evie, Ella, Grace, and Sienna all clearing and tackling with everything they had to keep Beeston at bay. Eva had a great chance, which she made herself but shot wide, and then later on, she made the keeper pull off a magnificent save.
Nelly turned the provider by laying on a great chance for Elycia to place her shot right inside the near post for another goal and her first for the Tornados. Val unfortunately picked up an injury, which then meant for the rest of the game there would be no substitutes, so all the girls were asked to dig deep for the remainder of the game.
Beeston got one back when a corner drifted in which Layla was unlucky with which went in the back of the net and then with the final chance Beeston broke and the tired Tornados legs couldn't keep up and the striker slotted home for the game to end in a draw.
Whilst the Tornados play deserved more the Coaching team were full of praise for every single player today and it was a case of at the start of the game, with the squad seriously short a draw would have been taken so we have to be happy with a first point of the season. If the Tornados carry on creating chances like they are, it won't be long before that turns into wins
Coaches players - Layla. Stepped up when needed and was excellent throughout.
Player chosen by the opposition - Nelly. A goal and an assist, she was a constant threat to the Beeston defence.
