Heanor travel to second place Worksop Town FC tomorrow aiming to be only the second team to win at the Windsor Foodservice Stadium this season. Bridlington Town are the only side to beat Mark Shaw’s side in the Northern Counties East League on home soil, a 2-1 victory, a game in which Worksop took the lead only to concede two second half goals.

This trip is one of the most difficult of the season, The Lions are aiming to continue the fine display against Cleethorpes last weekend.

The reverse fixture was a close affair. Adrian Hawes headed Heanor in front on 21 minutes before Jon Wafula was credited with the equalising goal on 42 minutes, a shot/cross that turned in to the goal off of the shoulder of a very unlucky Ian Deakin.

Both sets of managers agreed it was a level contest on the day, played in a good spirit.

The Worksop support has to be credited for the sportsmanship and general good banter throughout the contest back in September. With stories coming out of various matches this season involving NCEL clubs, including allegations of verbal abuse, threats of violence and general behaviour that isn’t welcome at any level of football, we at Heanor Town FC do always attempt to avoid all bad natured behaviour, we will show the NCEL how it is done tomorrow with friendly rivalry expected.

On the pitch however, we are travelling to Worksop Town FC to win. Three wins in three will have given Glen Clarence’s team all the energy and confidence going in to a game against a team that has won 10-0, 8-1, 7-0 and 13-0 this season.

Supporters are reminded that we are not running a coach to Sandy Lane, the distance not deemed too far to drive. Worksop will include two ex-Heanor players in their ranks, Tom Burgin played for The Lions under Glenn Kirkwood and Craig Hopkins before flying off to play in Sweden, Ross Henshaw only left Heanor a few weeks ago, he made an instant impact by scoring a header in his debut. Both are expected to line up in central defence to try and stop the Heanor front line.

For one of our supporters, who sadly won’t be at the game, the clock will move from 63 to 64 on Saturday. All at Heanor Town FC want to wish Ian Squires a Happy Birthday.

Worksop are currently sat in 2nd place but for them to gain promotion from the NCEL Premier Division they must beat Heanor, Bridlington, Shaw Lane, Handsworth Parramore, Barton Town and on the final day of the season they travel to Tadcaster Albion for what could potentially be the championship decider.

Worksop contacted us during the week to change the parking arrangements for the match. Parking Eye have taken over the car park on the retail park next to the ground and a large number of supporters received parking tickets during their midweek match with Garforth. Although the Parking Eye tickets can not be enforced fully by law the hassle and stress of dealing with it isn’t worth it.
Parking is available at the ground for club officials, first come first served. There is a small amount of parking available in the Wickes car park close to the ground.
If you can not find a space close to the ground a short walk may be in order, please plan ahead and arrive early.
